The labor movement and American workers lost one of our greatest champions today.
We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Richard Trumka Jr., President of the AFL-CIO. President Trumka was Chair of the Alliance of Health Care Unions’ International Presidents’ Committee and a fierce advocate of Alliance Union members.
When we first formed as a union federation President Trumka immediately extended his full support and spoke highly of our labor partnership model. He was a fierce champion for workers’ rights and workplace safety, and led with unwavering conviction.
The labor movement has lost one of the greatest leaders of our time. We extend our condolences to his family, friends, and our labor family across the country. We will honor his legacy every day during National Bargaining and beyond.
