National Agreement Officially Ratified!

“This was a long road, longer than we imagined when we founded the Alliance earlier this year, but it’s also been much more rewarding than we imagined. ” — KATHLEEN THEOBALD, ALLIANCE EXECUTIVE BOARD CHAIR

After an unprecedented organizing campaign, endless hours of negotiations, and finally ratification votes across the country, it’s official – the National Agreement has been ratified by every Local Union in the Alliance. Our new Agreement met our key goals: a good wage increase, better benefits, new educational trust funds for our Alliance union members, and a plan to get our LMP back on track.

We won good wage increases in every region, better dental benefits, and more HRA retirement funds for workers outside of California. We have a stronger Performance Sharing Plan (PSP) that protects us from circumstances outside our control.

We won new, stronger, and better funded LMP and educational trust funds. We agreed to more and better LMP training, better problem-solving, and more Contract Specialists to support union members on the job.

Finally, we continued our years-long drive for more uniform benefits across KP. We helped Union members across the program — including newly-integrated KP Washington — win important local improvements.

“This was a long road, longer than we imagined when we founded the Alliance earlier this year,” said Alliance Executive Board Chair Kathleen Theobald. “But it’s also been much more rewarding than we imagined. We got a great settlement, ran the strongest campaign any partnership union has ever mounted, and we built lasting unity. Thank you and congratulations to everyone who talked to coworkers, organized rallies, signed petitions, and served on the bargaining teams. You did this!”

As the first step to implementing the new National Agreement, we are working with management to begin joint education of physicians, workers, and managers.
